  • Heart rate visibility?

    I have a heart rate monitor (armband) that I was able to pair with strava. Unfortunately, I cannot manage to see my heart rate in the app while I run. The “average” rate is visible, but why would I give a bleep about my average rate while I’m running? Three possibilities here. One, the interface is unintuitive and I’m missing an easy way to make my heart rate visible to me. Two, I’m an idiot. Or three, the data (which come directly from my band) are being hidden behind a $96/year paywall. I’ll update this review if I find out I’m an idiot.
  • Great App! Please improve photo viewing

    Great app. Love the GPS tracking, mapping, photo sharing, and tracking capabilities... and no Ads. Please improve the photo viewing experience - can't enlarge the photos or control zooming as it is. That's my only complaint.
  • Wonderful - Highly Recommend Trying It

    I have been using Strava for some time now. My first run recorded was in June 2016. Over the time period of about 1.5 years I have been very happy with how the app functions. If you have never used the app, it is something like a Facebook wall. Everybody’s posts pop up and you can click them for more information provided the user wrote some additional info. You can gather up friends and followers to see your activities and you can see there’s. The great thing about this is it makes these activities more fun. You can push each other without having to be with one another on your workouts since you can see the efforts your friends are putting out. There are things like segments and routes that can make a timed course anywhere that anyone can post there best efforts on. For example, there is a long hill nearby. Someone can make a segment from the bottom to the top and people can try for the best time up the hill. It brings everyone together in friendly competition regardless of where you are. You can even connect globally with groups that give out challenges (like run 50 miles during the 25 days of Christmas) if that’s what you want. You can also track your progress and make sure your gear isn’t getting too worn by posting your things into Strava. Note Strava allows you to connect multiple different apps to it. That means you can probably still use your old running/cycling recorder and Strava will simply post the data for you directly from the app you use. For example, I use Garmin Connect and it automatically posts my activities to Strava when I sync my watch to my connect app. Clearing up possible misconceptions: -There are apps that Strava can not sync with. However, there are so many apps that it can sync with that I have never heard complaints of these apps that can’t sync. -You can use Strava alone to record your activities instead of an external app. It has a record function built in. -You can (as of a recent update) post things that are not an activity. -The online website for PC is more powerful than the app. For example, the PC version is how you can create segments or routes whereas the app cannot perform the functions. The benefit of having the app is you can have everything posted/synced via your phone only. Plus you can see your and others posts on the go. -The app alone (without PC) is perfectly fine for the average user. It is just the advanced functions are on PC as well. -You can use the app for other things such as swimming, kayaking, Nordic Skiing, kitesurfing, CrossFit, snowboarding, rock climbing, etc. -You do NOT have to have a GPS tracking device or even use the built-in recorder to use the app. You CAN post things manually giving you know the vague distance and time. I hope this has clarified the app for you. I would recommend giving the app a go for a week or so. You might discover you like it.
  • The app is cool, but the Watch limits are a problem

    There’s a lot of cool stuff you can do with Strava, but it’s got some problems if you look at the Watch app. Half of the premium features aren’t present. Apple Watch heart rate monitoring also doesn’t work terribly well.
  • Default icon screwup, tedious manual entries

    Latest update screwed up icon Other issue - creating repetitive manual workout entries is exceedingly and unnecessarily tedious. Please fix (glad to help) Recent change to feed chronology not appreciated/desired. I don’t use Facebook or similar, and will be disappointed with Strava if feed gets filled with noise I use Strava with a Bicycle club and it is great. Thank you

  • I use to love this app

    What with the last few updates to both this app and to iOS the application keeps on dying while I am using it. I would start my run and by the time I reached the half mile point I wouldn’t hear any indication and I would look at the iPhone screen and not see the little blue bar at the top of the display. I knew at that point that Strava had stopped working and it would need to be restarted. This happened several times over the last few days and it is far too frustrating and annoying so I have moved on to other running apps. I had submitted a previous bug report which was to update my iPhone to the latest version of iOS (which I did) however that did not fully fix the problem. By the wayI had already paid for a subscription.
  • Don’t spam me with notifications, just track my runs.

    I just want to keep track of my runs, not join a social network. Don’t spam notifications asking if I know x or y for weeks on end.
  • Route planning?

    It’s frustrating when attempting to explore new riding routes on the website you cannot view the route with directions on both the site or app. There’s just a map of the route. It would be great to have an actual route explorer with directions on the app versus segments. How can I enjoy the respective route you’re proposing if I can’t actually follow it??
  • Having issues

    The app has worked really well up until this week. It will track my runs perfectly, but when I save them it does not save the whole run, only half. I’m not sure if it’s in the app or the iPhone update. Just be aware and keep a close eye on it if you like to keep accurate times.
